Early Spring Tea with Friends ~ March 11, 2012

You are cordially invited to a Regency tea at "The Secret Garden Tea Room" in Sumner, Washington on the 11th of March, 2012 at 4 o'clock pm.

See old friends, meet new friends, and try your wit at Jane Austen trivia! Regency attire is recommended but not required.

Cost is $24 per person. To reserve your spot, please mail a check to Ruth Haring. Check your email or facebook for address. Or email pugetsoundregency@gmail.com your interest and we can send you the address.

All checks must be received before the 26th of February, 2012 in order for the tea room to accomodate our party.

are in the works, we are planning a tea for Sunday afternoon in March, a picnic in the summer, and a bonnet-making and hair-styling workshop in the future. More information is coming soon!

If you would like to host an event, such as a card party, sewing circle, tea, movie, etc., please let us know and we will spread the word for you!

Our Summer Tea is postponed

Not the news we want to share with our friends, but we are currently waiting on non-profit status and insurance. The tea we had scheduled July 10 will need to wait until we are legally covered. Would anyone be interested in doing another tea at a tea house in the fall? Also, please visit our friends in Portland and Eugene's sights, they have many, many wonderful events planned.

Summer 2011 Events for Puget Sound Regency Society

As we start planning our calendars for the summer, the Puget Sound Regency Society officers met and planned a tentative summer schedule of events.

In early June we will be hosting a dinner party and card evening at a local venue to be determined. More information will come out on cost, date, and time.

July 10 we will be hosting an afternoon garden tea party in Olympia at Ruth's house. Activities will include pen and ink writing, flower pressing, and a silent auction of hand crafted Regency attire.

Finally, during July and August, we will have a three-part dress-making workshop in Olympia. These workshops are open to anyone, even if your current sewing project is not your next ball gown. We will help with fitting, styling, and any other help you may need.

Please feel free to email us anytime you have a suggestion or idea. We are looking forward to seeing our new friends in the area this summer.

A Successful Tea

We had so much fun meeting new Regency friends from the Puget Sound area. Nora, Katie, and Charlotte even came up from Portland! We'll work on fixing the Facebook page so everyone can post their pictures up, we're very excited to see them. Our nonprofit license came in and we are in the process of creating a bank account, paypal account, and figuring out insurance. Although there is no event set in stone up in Washington, we are looking at trying to put an event together near Valentine's Day. We'll keep you posted!

You are cordially invited to take tea with friends and new acquaintances on Sunday, November 7th at The Secret Garden Tea Room in Sumner, Washington. Tea will be served at 4 o'clock p.m. The cost is $30 per person, which includes a Regency-era craft project to celebrate the season. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Don't Give Up!

My daughters and I are looking into putting on a tea probably this January or February. We also have not had a chance to figure out a day for a planning meeting. Thank you for those that have emailed an interest so far. We have not given up, just have had some family challenges this summer which had placed the Regency Society on a temporary back burner.

Puget Sound Chapter...

I'm excited to be taking over this chapter of the Oregon Regency Society. A group of about 10 of us have been attending the awesome events in Oregon, but are looking forward to making new friends up north and having activities closer to home. At this time, my daughters, our friends, and I are exploring possible event ideas and venues in our area. We hope to be posting an event in the near future. Some possible ideas are: workshops on bonnet making, calligraphy, a tea party, and eventually a ball. If you have ideas or suggestions we would love to know!

I love to sew and design dresses for my family. I would be happy to give advice on making Regency costumes. Please feel free to email me. Keep checking back for further news.

Leadership change at ORS Puget Sound

Hi all. I am just dropping you a note to let you know that ORS Puget Sound's founder Melanie Mayo is stepping down as Chapter leader, and allowing Ruth Haring to take her place. We at the ORS are very excited to welcome Ruth into the fold and we look forward to the events and to-dos that will follow.

First Meeting Recap

The first meeting, of the Puget Sound Chapter, was attended by 11 enthusiastic Regency fans. We discussed ideas for events up here in Washington as well as preparing to attend a future event in Oregon. We’re hoping to plan a picnic/outdoor tea in late spring or early summer. The site requires a fee, so it is dependent upon pre-donation for site fee payment to reserve.
There was also talk of invading a tea shoppe in Regency wear as soon as we all have costumes.
We’re starting small, but are hoping to grow. Please join us if you are in the area.
